Mary McCabe Obituary

METHUEN – Mary D. (Grazio) McCabe, 86, of Methuen, passed away on August 4, 2025 at the High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill. Mary's life began in Haverhill; she was the daughter of Domenic and Theresa Grazio, who immigrated from Italy, and younger sister to Wayne Grazio. Mary had many friends as a child. She was quite a mischievous and beautiful girl and was the apple of her father's eye. She met her husband, Ronald McCabe, shortly after high school and he completed service in the Seabee's during the Korean War. It was a whirlwind romance, and they soon married. Mary set off with her husband to California so he could attend college on the GI Bill and once Ron completed college, they made the decision to move back to Massachusetts to be closer to their families. They built and made their home in Groveland, in 1962, where they lived with their three children. Early on, Mary worked at the Hale Hospital in Haverhill as an Emergency Room intake administrator. She loved that job and would go in on the worst weather days, even if they had to send a snowplow to pick her up! Later, she worked for Mobile MRI in the Merrimack Valley, where she managed patient schedules and improved operational efficiency. In addition, she administered Army admission testing for the US Government in Boston. Mary formed lasting relationships along the way. Later in life, Mary sold her home and settled in Methuen near her parents, to assist in their elder care. She was a devoted daughter to both of her parents. Mary's greatest pleasure was the beach, summer sun and reading. Any beach, anywhere, with book in hand! During the summers, she would take her three children and their friends to Salisbury Reservation and always made a stop at Skip's in Merrimac, MA for Curley-Q French Fries. She loved visiting her son Mark and daughter-in-law Christel's condominium in Hampton as well as son Ross and daughter Lisa's homes for the pool. She took frequent trips to the Florida coasts as well as Mexico, Aruba and Caribbean destinations. Mary cherished her family. She is survived by her sons Mark M. and his wife Christel McCabe of Groveland, Ross C. and his wife Christiane Ribeiro McCabe of Haverhill, and her daughter Lisa McCabe-Enaire and husband Vito Gorrasi, Jr. of Woburn. She also leaves behind her brother Wayne and his wife Marie Grazio of Hernando, FL, formerly of Groveland; as well as her five grandchildren Jessica and her husband Jake Masotta, Stephanie McCabe, Becky and her husband Rich Callaway, Kimberly McCabe, and Geovanna Riberio.; and three great grandchildren Amelia and Hazel Callaway and John Masotta, Jr. Mary was predeceased by her granddaughter Kelly Ann McCabe. ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Monday, August 11 from 10AM until 12PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main Street, Haverhill. Burial to follow at Riverview Cemetery, Groveland.
