Ronald D'Arcangelo Obituary
Ronald J. D'Arcangelo, 83, of Bradford passed away September 15, 2025, at Alliance Health at Rosewood in Peabody, MA.
He was born in Haverhill on January 29, 1942, son of the late Amedio and Anne (DiFruscio) D'Arcangelo.
He was a lifelong resident of the city and proud to be involved in his community. Ron attended the Moody School in his early years and went on to graduate from Haverhill High School, Class of 1960. He attended prep school at Maine Central Academy and Newman Prep School in Boston, MA. He received his BA from Suffolk University and master's in criminal justice at Anna Maria College in Worcester, MA.
Upon graduating from college, Ron became a teacher at the advice of his mother and following in his Uncle Mark DiFruscio's footsteps. He taught in public schools in Salem, NH and eventually at the Essex County Training School, Lawrence, MA where he provided instruction in English and Biology to youth sentenced there by courts because of delinquency crimes. During his years as a teacher, Ron held a second job as a bartender at Alman's Café in downtown Haverhill where he kept in touch with so many community members.
In 1973, Ron was hired as a probation officer at the Amesbury District Court. He also worked briefly as an officer at the Haverhill District Court. Early in his career, he was promoted to Chief Probation Officer of the Amesbury and Newburyport District Courts. He deeply believed in the mission of probation services to provide quality service and rehabilitation to those he supervised while maintaining public safety. He helped to establish the Association of Chief Probation Officers and spearheaded the effort to get funding to build the Newburyport District Court.
Ron was also a real estate broker, where he started his own firm and then working for many years at Consoli Realty and Remax Main Street. He loved his community and supported many public safety organizations, veterans' organizations and Sacred Hearts Church. He was politically active and worked on many local and state campaigns. He loved local sports teams and was a remarkable football, basketball and baseball player during his school years.
But above all, he loved his family - they meant everything to him. He loved family dinners and watching sports activities of his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed travels with his wife and their friends to many Caribbean islands and Europe. Music was important and he loved Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, The BeeGees, and Barry Manilow to name a few.
Ron is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Linda Rose (O'Connor) D'Arcangelo; his son, Brendan E. D'Arcangelo of Jupiter, FL; his daughters Kerrin M. and her husband Michael A.
