Sonia Ohanian

Sonia (Aaronian) Ohanian was born September 5, 1935 in Andover, Massachusetts and passed peacefully on July 22, 2024 in Pompano Beach, FL. Sonia is survived by her loving husband, Michael Ohanian as well as her daughter, Debbie Ohanian; her brother Robert Aaronian and his wife Sharra; and many loyal friends and extended family members in Boston and Los Angeles. Sonia was predeceased by her brother Martin (Marty) Aaronian. Sonia and Michael, married for 69 years, enjoyed a true love for life and each other's company. They traveled the world with passion and curiosity. After Michael's retirement, Sonia and Michael moved back home to Andover, MA while spending winters in Pompano Beach, FL where they eventually settled and enjoyed the warmth of friends and family. Sonia, from her youth, was whole heartedly committed to the Armenian Church. For many years, she sang in the Holy Cross Church Choir in Lawrence, MA where she shared her angelic soprano voice singing the hymns of the Holy Badarak. She was very dedicated in supporting Michael in his advocacy for Armenia, never relenting in their decades-long commitment to higher education for the Armenian people. Sonia was deeply appreciated by all who knew her and will be remembered as a caring and authentic soul. Sonia's visitation will be held on Saturday, August 10th from 10-11 AM at the Armenian Apostolic Church at Hye Pointe, 1280 Boston Rd. Haverhill, MA. A funeral service will follow.
