Agnes Voss Obituary

MENDON, Ill. -- Agnes E. Voss, 95, of 2080 Hwy. 336, Mendon, died at 3:35 p.m. Monday (Feb. 6, 2012) in Blessing Hospital in Quincy surrounded by her family.

She was born on Dec. 31, 1916, in Quincy, a daughter of Louis F. and Josephine C. Meissen Frese. She married Frank H. Voss Sr. on May 20, 1939, in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Quincy. He died on Dec. 11, 2001.

Agnes was a devoted member of St. Edward Catholic Church in Mendon where she held virtually every office in the St. Edward Altar Society. She was also a longtime member of the Quincy Deanery Council of Catholic Women and the Legion of Mary.

Agnes volunteered at the North Adams Home at Mendon for more than 25 years, helping residents get to the chapel for the weekly Mass and rosary service. She received an award from Pope John Paul II for her work in her church and community. In addition, Agnes was always very active in her family's activities.

She is survived by four children, Sister Janet Voss, CPPS of O'Fallon, Mo., Frank Voss Jr. and his wife, Donna, of Fowler, Suzanne Maas and her husband, Larry, of Liberty, and Barbara Oitker and her husband, Donald, of Liberty; 11 grandchildren, Rodney Voss and his wife, Amy, Randy Voss and his wife, Davey, Ricky Voss and his wife, Julie, Raymond Voss and his wife, Karrie, Rusty Voss and his wife, Autumn, Ross Voss and his wife, Johanna, Larry Maas, Kirk Maas, Kristina Klingele and her husband, Dwayne, Jeffrey Oitker and his wife, Jenni, Bethany Epperson and her husband, Jonas; 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ruth Duppong, Marie Gramke and Betty Brady along with her husband, Frank; two sisters-in-law, Helen Frese and Catherine Frese; a brother-in-law, Don Lansing; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Agnes was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Alvin Frese and his wife, Dorothy, Lawrence Frese, Paul Frese and his wife, Millie, and Roy Frese; two sisters, Helen Lansing and Jenny Campbell and her husband, Ed; and two brothers-in-law, John Duppong and Dan Gramke.

SERVICES: 9:30 a.m. Friday in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home in Quincy and 10:30 a.m. in St. Edward Catholic Church in Mendon. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Quincy.

VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home in Quincy with a rosary service at 6:15 p.m.

MEMORIALS: St. Edward Catholic Church in Mendon.

ARRANGEMENTS: Duker and Haugh Funeral Home, Quincy.
