Albert Elmo "Abe" Huber, age 93, of Quincy, died on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 6:25 a.m. in the Illinois Veteran's Home. Abe was the last of nine siblings.

Abe was born on May 10, 1931, in Melrose Township, IL, a son of George and Elizabeth Peter Huber. On September 10, 1955, he married Doloris A. "Winnie" Winston in St. Mary's Church in Quincy. She survives.

Abe served in the United State Army from March of 1953 until his honorable discharge in March of 1955.

Transitioning to a role as a machinist at Central Stone, he dedicated seven years to precision workmanship. In his later years, Abe found fulfillment in maintaining the facilities at St. Anthony School, where he served for five years.

Abe received his GED from John Wood Community College when he was 55 years old. Abe would go on to earn his Associate's Degree from John Wood as well.

Abe was a devoted member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, where he served on the Holy Name Society.

In his spare time Abe enjoyed hunting, especially for coons and squirrels, pitching horseshoes, playing cards, and gardening.

In addition to his wife, Winnie, survivors include three children: Susan (Danny) Huber Bartlett of Tennessee, IL; Rosemary Daniels of Quincy; and William "Bill" Huber of Quincy; four grandchildren: Toby Daniels, Maggie Daniels, Elizabeth Daniels, and Kathryn Roberts; a great granddaughter, Freya Roberts; and numerous nieces and nephews.
