April K. Lovett Locke

HANNIBAL, Mo. -- April K. Lovett Locke, 64, of Hannibal, died at 1 a.m. Friday (June 17, 2011) in Hannibal Regional Hospital.

April was born Sept. 26, 1946, in Detroit, Mich., to Robert M. and Glenna "Penny" Tipton Lovett. She was married to Kenny Locke Jr. on June 22, 1964, in Detroit. He survives.

April was a dental receptionist for more than 20 years, she worked for the Dr. Tim Cunningham and Dr. Bill Esicar dental offices. She was an avid animal lover and loved to feed all stray animals. April was an accomplished gardener and enjoyed her flowers. Zumba classes at the YMCA was a favorite pastime and she loved spending time with her grandkids. April attended Hydesburg Methodist Church.

Other survivors include her daughters, Paula Hays (Steve) of Hannibal and Marni Kendrick (Casey) of New London; a sister, Margaret A. Lovett Locke; brothers, Jeff Lovett and Tim Lovett; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Linda Lake (Mike), June Ann Piper (Richard), Dan Locke (Judy), Brenda Newell (Pat), Gerald Locke (Kathy), John Locke (Sue), Terry Locke (Becky) and Jeff Locke (Kori); grandchildren, Aftan Bross, Mason Lake, Noah Forney, Eli Hays, Josh Kendrick and Rylee Kendrick; a great-grandchild, Aiden Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.

April was preceded in death by her brother, Michael R. Lovett; her grandparents; and brother-in-law, Don Locke.

SERVICES: 1 p.m. Tuesday in the James O'Donnell Funeral Home, Hannibal, with the Rev. Tim Goodman conducting. Burial will be at Grand View Burial Park, Hannibal.

Pallbearers will be her nephews, David Locke, Shane McClelland, Fred Newell, Jamie Locke, Jason Locke, and Dennis Nichols. Honorary pallbearers will be her brothers-in-law, Dan Locke, Gerald Locke, John Locke, Terry Locke, Jeff Locke, Mike Lake, Richard Piper and Pat Newell.

VISITATION: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in funeral home.

MEMORIALS: The American Lung Association, James E. Cary Cancer Center or the NEMO Humane Society .
