Arlene Hooper Obituary

Arlene Ida Hooper, 86, of Conroe, Texas, formerly of Quincy, died Thursday (Sept. 20, 2012) after a lengthy illness.

She was born on Nov. 19, 1925, in Quincy, to Walfred Nordberg and Alma Bredenbeck Nordberg.

Arlene attended grammar school and high school in Quincy, before moving to California with her family in 1943. She married O.W. "Bill" Hooper Jr. and resided in Chino, Calif., for 65 years before moving to Conroe, Texas, in February 2010.

She was employed as a telephone operator for the Bell Telephone Co. and the Los Angeles County Fair for several years as well as in food services at the local A&W and Don Lugo High School.

She was a caring wife and mother and she loved to play pool throughout her life.

Along with her adoring family, she will be missed by her friends and her many caregivers at the Heritage Oaks Memory Care Community and Embracing Hospice who all love retelling their "Miss Arlene" stories.

She is survived by her sister, Thelma Kuehl; loving son, Steven Hooper (Robin); daughters, Suellen Willson and Sandra Wiersma (John); and grandchildren, Mark Hooper (Dawn), Kelly Peters (John), Gregory Willson (Lisa), Jill Lockwood (Sean), Katie Wiersma (Ian Rickert, fiancé), Travis Wiersma (Sadie) and Emma Wiersma. She is also survived by her five great-grandchildren, Danielle and Brady Peters, Samantha Hooper and Guy and Zoe Lockwood.

In addition to her husband, Bill, she is preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Sharon Hooper; and her brother, Walfred (Chick) Nordberg Jr.

SERVICES: Private services will be held in California. Interment will be in Pomona Mausoleum in Pomona, Calif.
