Barbara Mary Grawe, 82, a resident of Parkville, MO passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at Wexford Place, surrounded in love with her family. She was born May 28, 1943, to Lawrence and Justina (Ehrhardt) Peter in Quincy, Illinois.
Barb was an enthusiastic fan of the Kansas City Royals, and rarely missed a game: whether she attended in person, watched on TV, or listened on the radio. She was likely Salvador Perez's number one fan, and had countless sports memorabilia items to prove it. She also loved the Kansas City Chiefs and enjoyed being a part of their dynasty in real time. She excelled in gardening, had a passion for Smokehouse BBQ, and loved traveling both domestically and internationally. Her favorite destination was Alaska, where she returned six times. She was an avid collector of Longaberger Baskets, Beanie Babies and cookie jars. Her home was something out of a catalog with meticulously placed decorations to match every season.
Barb graduated from Quincy Notre Dame high school in 1961. On November 28, 1964, she was united in marriage to David Grawe at St. Francis Catholic Church in Quincy. After her marriage, she raised her family, and was involved in her children's activities, including being a Boy Scout Den Mother. When her children became older, she was employed by The First National Bank of Gladstone (which later became Security Bank of Kansas City) for nearly 40 years, retiring in 2020.
Barb was affectionately called "Gramenal" by her grandchildren. She was an active grandma who hosted slumber parties and took the grandkids to the movies (but always snuck in popcorn and snacks of course.) Although her more impressive dishes included lasagna and vegetable soup, her grandkids always raved about her perfect Kraft mac n' cheese. Barb cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren, and her home was always the warmest and most welcoming place – especially at Christmastime.
She is survived by her three children; Cathy Thibeau and husband Dan; Chris Grawe and wife Teri; Craig Grawe and fiancé Lisa Wagoner; 5 grandchildren: Amanda Maurin and her husband Stephen; Elizabeth Thibeau; Jeffrey Grawe; Jonathan Grawe; and Ella Pirtle; three great-grandchildren: Stephen Paul "Tripp" Maurin, Eleanor Maurin, and John Christopher "Jack" Maurin; sister Carol Darnell and husband Gary. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Justina Peter; her husband David Grawe; grandson David Thibeau; 4 siblings: Gerald Peter, Clarence Peter, Edgar Peter, and Delbert Peter.

We have such fun & loving memories of Barb. Chuck remembers when as a teen she came to Florida to help the family when of his younger brother Doug was born. She was Chuck's sister Peggy's God mother, so she held a special place in Peggy 's heart. We all loved to watch Carol & "Barbie" together, they embodied a loving, nurturing sister relationship. They also loved their mom and extended family. We will miss Barbs love, hospitality, and sense of humor. Sending healing hugs and prayers for peace & comfort. Chuck and Susan Peter
