Carol Dix Obituary

Carol Sue Dix, 78, of 1223 S. 22nd St., Quincy, died at 11:38 p.m. Monday (Feb. 3, 2014) in Blessing Hospital.

Carol was born Oct. 1, 1935, in Quincy, a daughter of Raymond A. and Margaret Bisser Bergmann. On June 14, 1958, she married Donald E. Wells. He died Sept. 21, 1965. On Dec. 4, 1968, she married Richard E. Dix in Trinity United Church of Christ. He died October 29, 2008.

Carol was a 1953 graduate of Quincy High School. She worked for Moorman Manufacturing from 1953-1961. She then became secretary for Dix Machine and Electric Co. until she retired in 1976.

Carol was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ. She enjoyed going out to dinner with her women's club. She loved to attend Blue Devil Basketball games and always looked forward to family get-togethers and being with her grandchildren.

Survivors include six children, Deborah Dix of Roseville, Calif., Alan (Deb Richards) Dix of Washington, Ill., David R. (Ceil) Dix of Quincy, Barbara (Paul) Kirchgasler of Bloomington, David A. (Wanda) Dix of Quincy and Dennis Dix of Quincy; nine grandchildren, Heather, Holly, Elizabeth and Gwen Dix, all of Quincy, Amanda Sheldon of Washington, D.C., Emily, Katherine and Andrew Sheldon, all of Roseville, Calif., and Bradley Dix of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; five stepgrandchildren, Aimee Terhark of Washington, Ill., Nicholas (Kandice) Dix of Greeley, Colo., Alex (Rachel) Dix of Peoria, and Rachel and Bret Kirchgasler of Minneapolis; several great-grandchildren; a brother, Grant A. (Ginny) Bergmann of Denton, Texas; and two nieces, Heather (Andrew) Smith of Plano, Texas, and Andrea (Doug) Klokow of Rogers, Ark.

In addition to her husbands, Carol was preceded in death by her parents.

SERVICES: 10 a.m. Friday in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with the Rev. Timothy A. White officiating. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy.

VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.

MEMORIALS: Trinity United Church of Christ, Mississippi Valley Council of Boy Scouts, Camp Callahan or the donor's choice.
