David Reinberg Obituary

QUINCY -- David Edward Reinberg, 74, of Quincy, died at 8:24 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at Blessing Hospital.

He was born Sept. 29, 1942, in Quincy, a son of Edward C. and Arlene Meyer Reinberg.

Dave graduated from St. James Lutheran School and in 1960 from Quincy High School. He worked at Motorola for six years, operated his own business for nine years and worked at Prairie Farms Dairy for 28 years, with 13 of those years in management. He retired in 2004. After retirement, he delivered drugs for Shopko pharmacy.

Dave had been a longtime member of St. James Lutheran Church where he was baptized Oct. 25, 1942, and confirmed. He was active in Bible classes and ushering and served as Sunday school superintendent for 10 years. For over 20 years he operated the church food pantry. Dave was also active in Scouting and served as cubmaster and scoutmaster for nine years for St. James P.T.L. Dave was a current member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. God chose to walk with and sometimes carry him.

Survivors include five children, David Reinberg of Seattle, Richard (Valerie) Reinberg of New Oxford, Pa., Cheryl (Steve) Newbrough of Quincy, Michelle Reinberg of Bastrop, Texas, and Rebecca (James, Jr.) Jones of Quincy; 21 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Lynda Hinkamper of Quincy; a nephew, Kevin (Andrea) Hinkamper of Wilbraham, Mass.; two nieces, Lisa (John) McCormick of Lenox, Kan., and Amy (Steve) Noble of Jefferson City, Mo.; and a cousin, Kenneth Phillips of Quincy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Darin Reinberg; a grandson, Dustin Thomas; a brother, Richard, in infancy; his beloved uncle, Leroy Meyer; a cousin, Jeanette Philips; and a brother-in-law, Harold Hinkamper.

SERVICES: 11 a.m. Saturday, July 1, in Greenmount Cemetery, with the Rev. Marlin Rempfer conducting. Inurnment will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

VISITATION: There will be no visitation, but friends are invited to the services.

MEMORIALS: St. James Lutheran Sunday School or the American Diabetes Association or Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
