Donna Hackler Obituary

TAYLOR, Mo. -- Donna "Joyce" Hackler, 71, of Taylor, Mo., passed away Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.

Joyce was born July 22, 1944, in Shelbina to Kenneth Birney and Daisy Olive Porter McGlothlin. She married James Charles Hackler on July 11, 1965, in Taylor. He preceded her in death Sept. 15, 2010.

Joyce was a 1962 graduate of Palmyra High School. She had formerly worked as a receptionist at the Hannibal Clinic and later worked in customer service for State Farm Insurance Co. in Columbia. She was a devoted wife and mother on their farm in Taylor.

Mrs. Hackler was very active in her daughters' extracurricular activities during their Palmyra R-I School years. She was a member of the Palmyra P.E.O. Chapter I.E. and was a very active member of Mount Olivet United Methodist Church in Taylor, where she was involved in numerous church committees and church ministries.

Survivors include her daughters, Margaret Jane "Meg" Hackler of Taylor, and Ann (Jody) Hackler Foutch of Columbia; grandchildren, Noah Hackler Mencer of Palmyra, Carter Jennings and Andrew Hackler Foutch of Columbia; sisters, Sharon (Jim) Lear of Monroe City, Kenneth (Judy) McGlothlin of Temple, Texas, Deloris (Bill) Stauffer of Edina, and Peggy (Steve) Butts of Quincy; and a brother-in-law, Thomas Biggers of Perry.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister, Judith Laurel Biggers.

SERVICES: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, at Mount Olivet United Methodist Church, Taylor, with the Rev. Steve Martin and the Rev. Peter Wehrly conducting.

VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 8, at the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel, Palmyra.

MEMORIALS: Shiloh Christian Children's Ranch in care of the funeral home.

ARRANGEMENTS: Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel, Palmyra.
