Donna Rischar, 86, was born on June 19, 1937, in Quincy, Illinois, daughter of Richard A. and Ethel M. Bush. She peacefully gained her angel wings on Friday, May 17, 2024, at the Illinois Veterans Home, 720 Sycamore, where she had resided for over sixteen years. The family would like to thank the team at Illinois Veterans Home for the loving care they gave Donna over the years.
Donna was married to Charles "Chuck" Rischar for forty-two years. He passed away in 2013. She and Chuck enjoyed square dancing and traveling to Branson, Missouri in their younger years.
Donna worked for the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services for many years until her retirement. She played the piano and organ and loved to garden, she especially loved her flowers. Donna was often seen with her favorite food, a delicious bucket of fresh fried chicken. More recently, a family visit to Donna at the Illinois Veterans Home elicited smiles when Pizza Hut pizza was presented to her. She would always ask, "Where's my pizza?"
Donna is survived by her son Alan and his wife Elizabeth; her son Dennis and his wife Darla; grandchildren: Autumn (Kendall Valeu) and Hunter (Maddie Ippensen); and in-laws Bob and Delores Ley. Many nieces and nephews survive.
Donna was preceded in death by her brothers, Richard and Marvin, and her twin sister Diana.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 23, at 11:00 AM in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 10:00 until the time of the services at 11:00 at the church. Memorials may be made to Illinois Veterans Home or St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church.
