Doris Dafferner Obituary

QUINCY -- Doris Dafferner, 90, of Quincy, died at 5:15 a.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2016, at Good Samaritan Home.

Born Oct. 18, 1925, in St. Louis, Mo., Doris was a daughter of Jack McKenna and Helen Charbulak McKenna. She married Darvin Dafferner on Dec. 24, 1943, in Coeur D'Alene, Idaho. He preceded her in death March 21, 2013.

Doris was employed as a secretary at Merkel's sporting goods store and later for Dr. Reed until her retirement.

Doris enjoyed crocheting, tending to her orchids, and in her early years, playing golf. She was devoted to her family and cherished the time she spent with them, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include a daughter, Pat Shull (Dennis) of Quincy; two sons, Mike Dafferner (Carol) of The Woodlands, Texas, and Bradley Dafferner of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren, Brian Dafferner (Joy), Alec Dafferner (Libby), Stacy Shull Gustafson (Craig), Nathan Shull, Michael Shull, and Devon Shull Kaufmann (Tyler); 11 great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Darvin; and two sisters, Marie "Bobbie" Fry and Rose Olson.

SERVICES: Cremation rites have been accorded to Mrs. Dafferner. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

My deepest sympathy to all the family members. I remember Doris from Merkels and thought she was one of the nicest and prettiest ladies that worked there. My prayers are with all of you during this difficult time.
