Evonne Constantz Obituary

CANTON, Mo. -- Mrs. Evonne Constantz, 86, of Canton, died Friday evening (May 2, 2014) in Lewis County Nursing Home in Canton. She was born Feb. 29, 1928, near Dysart, Iowa, a daughter of Alvin Seth and Ardath Edna Mahn Harrington. She married Merle Leroy Constantz in the home of her parents in Palmyra on Sept. 27, 1946. He died March 29, 2006.

Evonne and her husband owned and operated Canton's Custom Cleaners in Canton for 30 years until their retirement. In 1999 she joined the staff of Davis Funeral Home and worked until her recent illness. She was a graduate of Palmyra High School and attended Culver-Stockton College.

She was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church in Canton, Monticello Chapter No. 383 Order of Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxillary.

Survivors include her daughter, Lois Marie Constantz (Lew Portnoy) of Canton; one brother, Harold D. "Hank" Harrington and his wife, Mabel, of Shelbyville; and three nephews, Vincent Harrington, Harold Harrington, and Brian Harrington.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.

SERVICES: 2 p.m. Monday in the Davis Funeral Home, Canton, with Pastor Amanda Ross conducting. Burial will be in Forest Grove Cemetery, Canton.

VISITATION: Noon Monday until the service in the funeral home.

MEMORIALS: Canton Public Library.

ARRANGEMENTS: Davis Funeral Home, Canton.
