Faye Treuthart

1926 - 2017

Faye Treuthart, 91, of Quincy, died at 7:05 a.m. Monday, Feb. 6, 2017, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

Faye was born Jan. 7, 1926, in Winona, a daughter of Ralph and Mable Underwood Kleopfer. She moved from Woodford County to Hancock County when she was 5 years old. After graduating from Carthage High School, she was employed by the Office of Price Administration (Ration Board).

She married Ensign John W. Treuthart in 1945 at Burnside Christian Church. He preceded her in death.

Later, she was employed by Purdue University. Faye was a homemaker and devoted mother to her children, the loves of her life. She retired from Brown and Mating Realtors after 20 years.

After retirement, she liked to travel with friends and visit with family. She was a member of Madison Park Christian Church, EverReady Class and Senior Sonshiners. She volunteered at Madison Park Church and in the Blessing Hospital Tea Room.

Faye is survived by three children, Pam (Charles) Owings of Centerview, Mo., Julia (David) Jenkins of Overland Park, Kan., and Alan (Diane) Treuthart of Chicago; five grandchildren, Ryan (Sarah) Owings of Lee's Summit, Mo., Carrie (Tory) Mears of West Des Moines, Iowa, Kelly (Megan) Jenkins of Chicago and Roman and Madeline Treuthart, both of Chicago; three great-grandchildren, Mason Owings and Audrey and Eliza Mears; a sister, Norma Seigfreid, and a sister-in-law, Esther Kleopfer, both of Carthage; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Faye was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Lloyd Kleopfer; and brothers-in-law, Dale Bratz and Loren Seigfreid.

SERVICES: 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 10, at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with the Rev. Chuck Sackett conducting. Burial will be 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, in Moss Ridge Cemetery, Carthage.

VISITATION: 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
