Gabrielle Post Obituary

Gabrielle "Gaby" L. Post, 77, of 2900 State St., Quincy, died Friday (Jan. 13, 2012) in her home.

She was born on Feb. 12, 1934, in Laon, France, a daughter of Paul and Luciene Wacquez Langlais. She married Willard E. Post on Nov. 1, 1975, in the Lutheran Church of St. John in Quincy. He died June 6, 2005.

Gaby was a member of the Lutheran Church of St. John.

She was a physical therapy assistant at St. Mary Hospital for 23 years and five years at Blessing Hospital before her retirement in 2001.

She traveled extensively in Europe and to Hawaii in June 2009. She enjoyed gardening. She was a volunteer at Blessing Hospital, and she was very active at the church and the soup kitchen at the Salvation Army.

Survivors include children, Christelle Stewart of Camp Point, Stephen Carper and his wife, Patricia, of Camp Point, Patricia Dimmitt and her husband, Richard, of Quincy, and Jennifer Carper of Quincy; stepdaughter, Victoria Bliven and her husband, Richard, of Quincy; grandchildren, Heather Bockenfeld and her husband, Brent, of Quincy, Shawn Stewart and Christy of Camp Point, Alison Clark and husband, Steve, of Quincy, Meagan Hernandez, Melanie Carper and Jason Shroeder of Camp Point, Stephen Carper and wife, Katey, of Kansas City, Mo., Colette Willing and Sarah Hall of Hamilton, Lucas Dimmitt, Nicholas Dimmitt, Ashley Carper (who is raised as a daughter), and Paige Bowen, all of Quincy, and Kenady McGlothlen of Palmyra, Mo.; stepgrandchildren, Matthew Bliven, Shaun Bliven and his wife, Jessica, all of Quincy, and Justin Bliven; great-grandchildren, Madison and Layla Stewart, Lilyian Shroeder, Dalton Newman, Bella Clark, Alize, Venus and Vincent Hernandez, Lucas Dimmitt, Bryce Dimmitt, Presley Sutter, Sailor and Paisley Johnson, Della Bockenfeld, Brix Bockenfeld and Lucas Hall; stepgreat-grandchildren, Alexis Bliven, Reagan Bliven, Taylor Bliven, Riley Bliven and Abbigail Bliven, Luke Bliven, Paige Bliven, Emily Bliven, Wyatt Bliven and Kashton Bliven; one sister, Marie Therese Cler of Provence, France; and many cousins in France, two nephews, and one niece.

Gaby was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

SERVICES: 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Lutheran Church of St. John. Interment will be in Immanuel Cemetery in Golden.

VISITATION: 10 a.m. until time of services Wednesday in the Lutheran Church of St. John.

MEMORIALS: Blessing Hospital Cancer Center, Blessing Foundation for Hospice or CareNet.
