Glenn Oakman Obituary

Glenn Oakman Jr., 81, of Prairie City, father of Patricia Ann Foxall of Augusta, died at 2:45 a.m. Monday (Sept. 22, 2008) at the Prairie City Health & Rehab Center in Prairie City. He was born on Dec. 3, 1926, in Macomb, to Glenn W. and Alice Rigg Oakman. He married Ruby J. Herren in Macomb, on Oct. 29, 1951. She survives. Glenn was a U.S. Army veteran serving in both World War II and Korea. He was a member of Pipefitters Local No. 353 in Peoria and the Ellisville Christian Church. He ran the Prairie City Little League for 12 years. Survivors also include one son, John Glenn (Brandy) Oakman of Prairie City; two daughters, Patricia Ann (Danny) Foxall of Augusta, and Joyce Renee Garrett of Bushnell; 11 grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several stepgreat-grandchildren; and one sister, Della Mae Stoker of Pontiac. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Cynthia Rose McGrew; one granddaughter; three brothers, Carl R., Virgil L. and Ronald E. Oakman; and three sisters, Evelyn Damitz, Betty Thorman and Ina McCourt. SERVICES: 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Martin-Hollis Funeral Home in Bushnell with Pastors Rick Weiss and Terry Broady conducting. Burial will be in the Prairie City Cemetery. VISITATION: 6 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. MEMORIALS: Ellisville Christian Church. ARRANGEMENTS: Martin-Hollis Funeral Home in Bushnell.
