James Schutte Obituary

James E. "Jim" Schutte, 74, of 1317 Northwood Acres, died on Sunday (July 27, 2014) in his home.

He was born on Nov. 18, 1939, in Quincy, a son of Carl and Mabel Fleming Schutte. He married Sandra K. "Sandy" Dieker on Nov. 24, 1962, in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She survives.

Jim was a graduate of Notre Dame High School. Jim served in the United States Army.

Mr. Schutte worked for Moorman Manufacturing Co. for 35 years. He then worked for Brinkman Plumbing Co. for several years until retirement.

Jim was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church. He enjoyed spending time at his beloved deer camp with his family and friends. He liked gardening. Jim also always fondly remembered the vacations he and Sandy were able to take with family and friends.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by four sons, Jeff Schutte and his wife, Ann, of Bartlett, Steve Schutte and his wife, Leanne, of O'Fallon, Mo., Brad Schutte and his wife, Stacy, of Quincy and Doug Schutte, also of Quincy; seven grandchildren, Heather, Jessica and Nicole Schutte, Austin and Ashley Schutte, and Lindsey and Logan Schutte; and two sisters, Delores "Dee" Wiewel and her husband, Dick, and Ellen Schutte. Numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ed Schutte.

SERVICES: 9:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1, in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

VISITATION: 4-7 p.m. Thursday, July 31, in the funeral home.

MEMORIALS: Cornelia de Lange Syndrome Foundation, St. Francis Catholic Church or the Blessing Cancer Center.

ARRANGEMENTS: Duker and Haugh Funeral Home.
