John Feeney Obituary

John Joseph Feeney, known affectionately as John, passed away peacefully at his home in Quincy, IL, on March 18, 2024. Born on May 22, 1977, in Davenport, IA, John's life was marked by unwavering dedication to his family, a spirited sense of humor, and a loving heart that touched all who knew him.

John was the cherished son of Martin "Pat" Feeney and Suzan Bachelder. His formative years were spent in Davenport, where he developed a deep-rooted faith as a member of Our Lady of Victory, serving as an altar boy and server. On May 31, 2001, in the vibrant city of Las Vegas, NV, John married his beloved Amanda Untiedt, a union that flourished in love and mutual respect. Amanda remains to honor his memory, alongside their son, Colin Feeney, who was John's pride and joy.

John's legacy is carried on by his devoted mother, Suzan Feeney; his brother, Bradley Feeney (Jonelle); his faithful dog, Nog; and a loving extended family of aunts, uncles, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Martin; his grandparents on both sides; and his parents-in-law, as well as numerous aunts and uncles.

Professionally, John dedicated 23 years to Century Link as a network technician, showcasing his expertise and commitment. His Catholic faith was an integral part of his life, and he was an active member of St. Anthony of Padua in Quincy. John's spiritual journey began at Our Lady of Victory in Davenport, where his early religious involvement laid the foundation for a lifetime of faith.

John's childhood was rich with adventure, thanks to his involvement with the Eagle Scouts and the loving support of his father, who often accompanied the troop on their expeditions. The family's passion for camping and travel saw them exploring the vast landscapes of the United States, reaching an impressive 46 different states in their motorhome. These experiences instilled in John a love for the great outdoors and a sense of wanderlust that he would later share with his own family.

As a father, John was wholeheartedly invested in his son's interests, from trap shooting to football, always present to cheer him on. He continued the family tradition of travel, creating cherished memories with trips to Florida to visit his mother and adventures to places like the Star Wars attraction at Disney World. John's enthusiasm for life extended to his love for the Chicago Bears and Blackhawks, and he found solace and joy in the melodies of Alternative Rock.

Those who knew John would describe him as funny and loving, traits that defined his approach to life and his interactions with others. His journey through life was a testament to the power of love, family, and faith. John will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.

Friends and Family are invited to John's Life Celebration at a visitation that will be Tuesday, March 26, 2024, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at O'Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home in Quincy, IL. A Memorial Service will directly follow at 3:00 pm with Deacon Harry Cramer officiating.
