Karen Sue James, 75, of Canton, Missouri passed away Monday, March 3, 2025, at 4:32 AM at the Lewis County Nursing Home in Canton.
The daughter of Mary D. Butler English and Robert Harvey was born on December 31, 1949, in Quincy, Illinois.
She was married to Raymond Marvin James in September of 1970 in Kansas. He preceded her in death on April 30, 2007.
Karen traveled construction for many years with her husband, working for Borton, Inc. as a timekeeper. She later was the night shift manager at the Cat's Paw snack bar on the Culver Stockton College campus. Karen really enjoyed working with the college students and remained friends with many of them even after she retired in 2015. She liked being outdoors, gardening, watching hummingbirds, raising her dogs and playing dice and cards with friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by three daughters, Tesh James of Lentner, Mo., Melisa (Todd) Tasco of LaGrange, Mo. and Regina Manley of LaGrange, Mo.; grandchildren, Brandon James, Christopher (Kayla) Rickards, Derek Rickards, Darren Walker, Corbin Dade, Sidney James (Dalton Mazzini), Braxton (Matracia)Hartshorn, Michael Manley, Kiana Manley, Destiny James, Breonna Abbey, Dustin Wakefield and Amelia Tasco; great grandchildren, Harmony, Keaton, Jazzy, Kailani, Ryleigh, Kingslee "Suzy", and Makenna; a brother, Eric Harvey of Knox City, Mo.; several aunts, uncles, nieces & nephews; and special friends and "chosen family", Charlie & Lori Rudd, Bub Long, Kathy Grgurich and Ann Dietrich.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister, Patty Schlueter, two brothers, Steve and Bob Harvey, several aunts, uncles and beloved in laws, and a dear friend, Judith Scott.
A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 2 until 4 PM at Arnold's Funeral Home in Canton, Missouri.
A Celebration Life will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to Arnold's Funeral Home to assist with final expenses.
