Linda "Gayle" Bross

1950 - 2017

Linda "Gayle" Bross, 66, of Palmyra, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017, at her home.

Mrs. Bross was born June 29, 1950, in Hannibal, to Woodrow Irving and Virginia Maude Hess. She was married to James L. Bross on May 5, 1978, at the Presbyterian Church, Palmyra. He survives of the home.

Gayle was a 1968 graduate of Hannibal High School. She later graduated from Hannibal LaGrange College in 1971 with an associate's degree in business.

She worked at Western Publishing and Watlow Electric Manufacturing Company in Hannibal.

For the last 23 years, she was a self-employed day-care provider in her home in Palmyra. In doing so, she helped their parents raise 53 children. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who cherished the time with her family.

She was a member of the Palmyra Presbyterian Church.

In addition to her husband, other survivors include a daughter, Wendy Ann Bross (Brad Niblock) of Lee's Summit; sons, Timothy L. Bross (Audra) of Lee's Summit, David W. Bross (Ying Lee) of Lee's Summit and Scott E. Bross (Rachel) of Columbus, Ga.; grandchildren, Sophia Rose and Elisabeth Hope Niblock, Owen James and Clara Jean Bross, and Emmett Lee and Henry Neal Bross; brothers, Terry (Nancy) Hess of Hannibal and Donald Hess of Hannibal; sister, Melody (Chuck) Chamberlain of Palmyra; aunt, Bonnie White of Benbrook, Texas; and nieces and nephews, Jeffrey (Missy) Hess, Jenny Hess, Michael Hess, Brian (Keri) Hess, Andy (Andrea) Hayes, Chris (Brittany) Hayes, Aaron (Jenna) Hayes, Ryan (Pam) Bross, Shannon (Joey) Mock, Jessy (Jason) Pink, Beau Bross, Michael Bross, Jenn (Jared) Murphy, Mary Beth (Brock) Decker, Kelly Schwartz, Atticus Bross, Livia Bross and Marciana Bross.

Gayle was preceded in death by her parents, and her in-laws, L.N. and Doris Bross.

SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 3, at Palmyra Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Roger Ricketts will conduct. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Palmyra.

Pallbearers will be Timothy Bross, David Bross, Scott Bross, Brad Niblock, Terry Hess and Donald Hess.

VISITATION: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 2, at Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel, Palmyra.
