Mark Anthony Scott, 68, of Quincy, passed away Friday, October 3, 2025, at Beloved Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hannibal, MO.
Mark was born May 11, 1957, in Quincy, IL to George and Bonnie (Sayles) Scott.
Survivors include his eight children, Darla Brady (Damon) of Quincy, LaChelle Wigfall (Elias) of Quincy, Morgan Scott (Megan) of Ypsilanti, MI, Andrea Williams (Kevin II) of Oklahoma, Debra Williams (Joshua) of Hannibal, Casey Scott of Ann Arbor, MI, GW Scott (Sophia) of Fort Wayne, IN, and Kariah Kirchner of Indianapolis; three brothers, Bruce Scott, Lynell Scott, and David Scott; one sister, Memory Scott of Hannibal; sixteen grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Darnell Scott and Lamar Scott; two sisters, Laura Allison and Patricia Sanders; and one daughter, Resce Scott.
Mark attended Quincy High School, where he was a proud member of the Blue Devils basketball team, graduating in 1975. After high school, Mark pursued a career that combined his love for food and service, working as a butcher and cook at the Butcher Block for many years.
Mark's zest for life extended beyond his professional endeavors. He was an avid sports fan, never missing a chance to cheer on his favorite teams. His hobbies included jumping rope and spending time with his beloved German Shepherds, who were his loyal companions over the years.
Mark's love for his family was evident in the way he crafted special nicknames for each of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, a testament to the unique bond he shared with each of them. He was the heart of a bowling league affectionately named "Mark's Angels," composed of his daughters, showcasing his playful spirit and the joy he found in spending time with his loved ones. His family was the centerpiece of his life, and he would often bring them together for memorable meals and gatherings. Known for his culinary skills, Mark's egg rolls, tenderloins, and bread pudding were the highlights of many family get-togethers. Mark's favorite place was his mother's house, a testament to the deep bonds and affection that defined his life. His spirit, characterized by joy, generosity, and a zest for life, will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Friends and Family are invited to Mark's Life Celebration at a visitation that will be Friday, October 10, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at O'Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home in Quincy, IL. A Funeral Ceremony will follow at 11:00 am with Pastor Wentric Williams Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Greenmount Cemetery in Quincy, IL.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with final expenses c/o Debra Williams.
