QUINCY -- Mary E. Stormer, 79, of Quincy, died at 8:39 a.m. Tuesday (June 16, 2015) in Good Samaritan Home.

Born April 7, 1936, in Quincy, she was the daughter of Emery K. "Benny" and Catherine Stormer Bennett.

Mary was baptized and confirmed at the Lutheran church in Washington, Ill., and was a member of Salem Evangelical Church of Christ in Quincy.

A graduate of Quincy Senior High School, Mary attended Quincy Beauty Academy and John Wood Community College. She was a loving caregiver for her son, Toby, for most of her life and more recently for her former sister-in-law, Joyce Stormer.

Survivors include her son, Aaron M. "Toby" Stormer of Barry; a brother, Robert K. "Bob" Bennett of Quincy; two stepgrandchildren, Jolene Bell of Georgia and Jon Paul Bell (Jessie) of Virginia, Ill.; her great-granddaughter, Sarah Bell; many loving nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Tim Thompson of Quincy.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her twin sons, Michael Stormer and Matthew Stormer; and a sister, Carol (Bennett) Dierker.

I knew Mary briefly as she asked me to stay with Matt several times before he passed and then the hospice office assigned me to be her volunteer which I was happy to do. Even though she had lost the ability to communicate verbally I did feel she recognized me and it was by privilege to visit and pray with her in her last days here on earth.
