Mildred Quaite Obituary

BARRY, Ill. -- Mildred Bernice Autrey Quaite, 85, of Colorado Springs, Colo., formerly of Barry, died at 11:44 a.m. Thursday (Jan. 16, 2014) in Life Care Center in Colorado Springs.

She was born Jan. 30, 1928, in Louisiana, Mo., a daughter of Richard and Lena Mae Betts Autrey. They preceded her in death.

She married Maynard E. Quaite on Feb. 28, 1946, in Bowling Green, Mo. He died Nov. 25, 1996.

Millie was employed at Ila's Beauty Shop in Louisiana, Mo., for three years and numerous shops traveling around with her father who was in the Navy during World War II.

She married Maynard upon his return from service in the Navy, where he served on the Yorktown aircraft carrier during World War II. She was employed by Kirgan Funeral Home for five years.

Survivors include one son, Michael Ray Quaite and wife, Joy, of Colorado Springs; one son-in-law, Wayne Gage of Mattoon; four grandsons, Michael, Joshua, Eugene and John; one granddaughter, Jeanette; and eight great-grandchildren.

As well as her parents and her husband, she was preceded, in death by two sons, one daughter, two granddaughters and one brother.

SERVICES: 11 a.m. Saturday in the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery in Barry.

VISITATION: 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home.

MEMORIALS: Alzheimer's Association.

ARRANGEMENTS: Kirgan Funeral Home, Barry.
