Richard was instrumental in bringing Doreen and me to Madison Park Church in Quincy, and we will be forever thankful for his work there.

Mr. Hurley was my 6th grade teacher at Central School (1982-83). I remember him fondly; he was a wonderful educator. He ate almonds every day and gave us verbal math quizzes - no paper or calculators! Whenever my mom, Paula Smith, would see him out and about in town, he always asked after my sister, Tara, and me (the "Smitty" girls). What a great legacy he leaves behind. Heaven's gain most definitely. My condolences to out to his entire family.

I was only a kid when he preached at our church and have pictures of his family with my family (riding my pony, etc.) I enjoyed exchanging e-mails after my Mom passed away (2008). So sorry for your loss.

I graduated with Richard from LCHS in 1949. Always such a nice fellow. Our class is getting smaller. We were the 49'ers

May you find comfort in knowing Dick touched so many and brought so much to all those who knew him. He was a great support to me throughout my teaching career at District #27. He always made time to visit a few minutes whenever and where ever he would see you. He will be very missed.

Mr Hurley was one of the greatest teachers I ever had. He was my fifth grade teacher at Central School. I learned so much from him. I am so sorry for your loss. He was a great man who influenced many lives along the way. He was loving and compassionate husband and always had a hello and concern on how you were doing in life. He will be sadly missed by all. My deepest sympathy. Dee Smith

We sympathize with Dick's family. We knew him as a gentleman. His continued care of his wife was something to behold. Whenever we ran into each other, he always took time to visit. He contributed so much to Lincoln.
