Robert E. "Bob" Clelland

Robert E. "Bob" Clelland, 73, of 3340 Genevieve Drive, died at 6:54 p.m. Monday (March 31, 2014) in Blessing Hospital.

Bob was born Dec. 17, 1940, in Canton, a son of William C. and Molly Kincade Clelland. On Sept. 1, 2007, he married Joyce DeVore Hoover in the Chaddock Chapel, Quincy.

Bob was a graduate of Quincy High School and graduated with a bachelor‘s degree in business administration from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb. He attended Dallas Theological Seminary in Dallas, Texas, where he received his master's in theology. While living in Peoria, he served as an interim minister for many local churches, and he had also been the director of admissions at Tru Terra Nursing Home of Peoria.

Bob was also employed for a time as the financial administrator of the Sheraton Hotel in Nashville, Tenn.

Bob's passion was ballroom dancing. He was a master ballroom dance instructor, teaching at Arthur Murray Dance Studios and at the Fred Astaire Studios. In his recent years, he taught private ballroom dancing lessons out of his home.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Bradley J. (Shelly) Clelland of Brimfield and Brian (Emily) Clelland of Elmwood; a daughter, Vania Reynolds of Peoria; a stepdaughter, Holly (John) Coates of McQueeney, Texas; five grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; two brothers, Richard L. Clelland of Washington, Ill., and James L. Clelland of Atlanta, Mo.; and two sisters, Sandra K. Smith and Marilyn Dotson, both of Arizona.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, William G. Clelland; two sisters, Livonia May Clelland and Klara Ellen Hoopergarner; and a stepson, Randal Lee Hoover.

SERVICES: 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the Vermont Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Scott Grulke conducting.

MEMORIALS: Vermont Street United Methodist Church or American Cancer Society.
