Robert L. "Boomer" Hadsell Sr.

1939 - 2017

QUINCY -- Robert L. "Boomer" Hadsell Sr., 78, of Quincy, died at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017, in Columbia, Mo.

Robert was born Jan. 27, 1939, in Quincy, a son of Virgil W. and Bertha M. Young Hadsell.

Boomer was a member of Central Baptist Church, the Elks Club, the American Legion and a life member of South Side Boat Club. Robert served in the Illinois Army National Guard during the Vietnam War. He was a longtime carpenter at Huck's Fixture Company.

Boomer's daily routine was to visit Wal-Mart and the Hy-Vee store on Harrison. He enjoyed bowling and was an avid camper and Chicago Cubs fan. He enjoyed gambling with his nephew, Steve Hadsell, in Las Vegas.

Boomer loved his family, and his grandchildren meant the world to him.

Survivors include a son, Robert L. (Tracey) Hadsell Jr. of Ashland, Mo.; a grandson, Robert Hadsell III; a granddaughter, Bethany Nicole Hadsell; and several nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jerry Hadsell.

SERVICES: 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Harper conducting. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post 37.

VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13, at the funeral home.
