Robert Mudd Obituary

HANNIBAL, Mo. -- Robert L. "Bob" Mudd died Palm Sunday (April 5, 2009) at his home in Deming, N.M., after a valiant fight with brain cancer. He was born in Hannibal, on March 12, 1938, to Rachael Abbie Teed Mudd and Alphonus Ligouri Mudd. He and Phyllis Cornwell were married in a garden ceremony on May 29, 1944, in Quincy, Ill. She survives. Bob lived most of his life in Hannibal and Monroe City. His life work was as a tool and die maker, primarily at Diemaker's in Monroe City, where he worked for nearly 35 years. He delighted in being busy and could fix or make just about anything; whatever was needed to be done. His quiet nature lended itself to gardening, barbecuing and in recent years, traveling and golf. Bob and Phyllis' retirement years were spent in IIllinois, Missouri, Arizona and New Mexico where they remodeled and built their homes. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bill; grandparents; uncle, Wally, and numerous relatives and friends. He is also survived by four daughters, Yvonne Howell of Hannibal, Sherry Spegal of Vandalia, Judy Sebers of Monroe City and Debbie Cornwell of Dallas, Texas; three sons, Todd and David Mudd of Atlanta, Ga., and Rob Mudd of Hannibal; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Pat Valentek of Napier, Neb.; an aunt, Opal Coates of Chillicothe; and a nephew, Butch Mudd of Hannibal. SERVICES: A celebration of Bob's life will be held at a later date. Family and friends are welcomed to his home. ARRANGEMENTS: According to his wishes, cremation has been arranged with Baca's Mimbres Crematory, 811 S. Gold Ave., Deming, N.M. 88030. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 1020 S. Granite St., Deming, N.M. 88030 or Alma Feil Hospice (Ambercare), 112 W.
