Ronald W. Byars, age 76, of Quincy, died on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 8:47 pm in his home.
Ronald, better known as "Ron" or "RB" to his friends, was born on September 8, 1947, in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Aldon and Barbara Burns Byars.
RB was employed at the Rinella company for 14 years before dedicating 22 years of his career to the city of Quincy, as a skilled painter. When not wielding a brush, he could be found in the serene tranquility of nature, pursuing his passion for hunting and fishing with unwavering enthusiasm. RB was a member of the Rocky Point Club, where he served as the club president three times over the years.
Survivors include his mother, Barbara Byars of Quincy; a daughter, Melissa Byars of Quincy; two grandsons, Justin and Brandon Hanlin, both of Quincy; two great-grandchildren, Easton Hanlin and Taylyn Seckman; a sister, Sandy (Randy) Michel of La Belle, MO; and several nieces and nephews; and his friend of over 40 years, George Thompson.
Ron was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Sharon Stanbridge, and a brother-in-law, Ronald W. Stanbridge.
Ron's family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the team at Blessing Hospice, and particularly to Matt Hanlin, for the caring and compassionate support given to Ron while he was in their care.
Pallbearers will Brandon Hanlin, Justin Hanlin, Troy Neisen, Chad Neisen, Jordan Neisen and Kevin Stark. Honorary Pallbearers will be George Thompson and Jerry Davis.
Visitation: 10:30 to 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at the Quincy Memorial Park Mausoleum
Graveside Services: 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at the Quincy Memorial Park Mausoleum, with Rev. Tom Rains officiating.
Entombment: Quincy Memorial Park Mausoleum, Quincy, Illinois

Sorry to hear of Ronnie's passing, I was married to him for a short time we were good friends there always. I always thought a lot of Ronnie get down .Sorry to hear of Ronnie's passing, I was married to him for a short time we were good friends they're always. I always thought a lot of Ronnie. He loved the fish and hunt. I have fun memories of hunting with him. Rest in peace Ronnie. See you again someday.
