Sharon Weese Obituary

Sharon Kay Weese left this world on October 13, 2025. She departed peacefully knowing soon she would be in the presence of the Lord & Savior Jesus Christ and the love of her life Jerry.

She told her daughter, Debbie "I know I am going to heaven. All of you need to make sure you are going there too, so I will see you again."

Those words sum up the passion and mission of Sharon's life. She didn't let a day pass without sharing the love of Christ in some way. Up until the very end, Sharon maintained love for her family, kindness, compassion, gratitude, and a positive spirit that flowed over with everyone she met.

Sharon Kay Walker was the first child born to Benjamin James & Lillian Juanita (Rose) Walker.

She was born at home in St. Joseph, MO on October 18, 1940.

Sharon graduated from Benton High School in 1958 and later Platte Business College on a scholarship. Following her graduation, she was employed by Crouch Bros. Trucking Firm as a legal secretary. She was also employed by Baker Construction, Scotties Raceways, Arnold Behrens Deters & Grey Law firm.

She met and fell in love with Jerry Dean Weese and married August 8, 1958, They were married for 61 wonderful years until he went to be with the Lord in August of 2019 after battling ALS.

Sharon and Jerry were blessed with five children. At the age of 24 she became unable to walk (without the aid of crutches or a wheelchair) due to a birth defect in her spinal column.

What most call a disability, she looked at as an opportunity for ministry and to glorify God. She lived in pain but didn't complain. She overcame and persevered. Her children and grandchildren enjoyed playing in her wheelchair when she wasn't in it. This resulted in an occasional "accident" including damaging a bedroom door while she and Jerry were gone on vacation.

After settling in Camp Point, IL in 1969 Jerry built her a greenhouse and jokingly said "now pay for it" so, she started selling plants and flowers. Customers began to ask if she did "floral arrangements" She was inclined to say "No" but son Dan convinced her "we can do that!!!"

So, the Green Thumb became a greenhouse and florist, which she operated for several years.

Later after retiring she managed the family business, Golden Building Materials and J&D Weese Construction.

Sharon also enjoyed writing, and had many of her short stories published by mostly Christian periodicals. She also wrote three books. "Songs of a Soul Set Free (1996) was her personal testimony. "Angels and Apple Trees" was all about her "adventures with her grandchildren. "Walking on Wings of the Wind" contained stories about many life experiences which resulted in spiritual applications. Lets not forget Sharon enjoyed playing the piano (and any music in general) and teaching piano lessons. She would burst out in song at any given moment!

"I can't" wasn't in her vocabulary and she made sure all the grandchildren lived by that standard.

Sharon spent the last two years living in the Golden Good Shepherd home where she enjoyed participating in activities & on occasion leading the weekly bible study. She enjoyed getting out to go to church, birthday parties, Sunday meals or any excuse to spend time with her family.

2 Timothy 4:7 says I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. This truly can be said about Sharon!

She is survived by her five children, Dan Weese & Tim Harrison, David (Debbie) Weese, Debbie (Mike) Roberts, Douglas (Lynette) Weese, and Darren (Karen) Weese; Sister, Gloria Jean Walker/ Cox (Steve); fourteen Grandchildren, Andy (Melanie) Weese, Jeff Weese (Leanne Moore), Beth Martin, Josh Beck, Jeremy (Courtney) Beck, James Beck (Kayla Flesner), Jessi (Zach) Atwater, Joselyn (Kasey) Monroe, Douglas (Ciara) Weese, Jackson Weese, Ian (Lindsey) Cloutier, Ashley (Joel) Kesler, Brandie (Stacey) Bland, and Kimmie Knudsen; and thirty seven Great Grandchildren, Isaac Weese, Aarron Weese, Joseph Weese, Kaleb Weese, Liliana Weese, Lilyian Schroder, Odessa Carper, Kaylee Weil, Keliko Montes, Silas Martin, Bailey Martin, Piper Martin, Andre Taylor, Adrianna Taylor, Ameron Bland, Cory Knudsen, Darren Knudsen, Cash Cloutier, Cyrus Cloutier, Charlie Kesler, Shepherd Kesler, Reaux Kesler, Greyson Steele, Karver Monroe, Ruby Monroe, Banner Monroe, Owen Weese, June Weese, Walker Weese, Asher Beck, Annie Beck, Maverick Beck, Kolton Beck, Easton Beck, Sidney Lohmeyer, Tucker Beck, Evelyn Beck.
