Stephen Brink Obituary

Stephen Brink, 66, of Quincy, IL, formerly of Hannibal, MO, passed away Friday, July 26, 2024, at University of MO Hospital in Columbia, MO.

The family is being served by the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, MO.

Friends and Family are invited to Stephen's Life Celebration at a visitation that will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at The Crossing in Quincy, IL.

Funeral Services and burial will be private at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hannibal, MO.

Stephen was born January 17, 1958, in Hannibal, MO to Carl E. Brink and Bessie Lou McCloskey Brink.

Survivors include his fiancé, Stacie Segebart of Barry, IL; two children, Zac Brink of Quincy, IL and Haley Brown (Cody) of Quincy, IL; one brother, Mike Brink (Marcy) of Hot Springs, AR; one sister, Bettina Brink of Hannibal, MO; and five grandchildren, Layla, Tyson, Baylee, Ryleigh, and Maddie. He is also survived by two nephews, Marshal Brink and Mitch Brink. Stephen was preceded in death by his parents.

Born with an innate sense of commerce and connection, Stephen started working in his parent's grocery store in Hannibal, MO for 1 cent per bag delivery. His entrepreneurial journey may have started what seems minimal, but he quickly established himself as a respected car salesman and owner as Steve Brink Motors in Hannibal, MO, Brink and Poage in Quincy, IL, and Gem City Ford in Quincy, IL.

Stephen's enterprising spirit did not stop at automotive sales. He expanded into land development, the Boating & Marina industry, and opened a local favorite here in Quincy, IL, called Gamemasters. He then expanded this brand to various exquisite shotguns that matched his love for trapshooting and other shotgun sports. He is known throughout this industry for his excellence, expertise, and generosity throughout numerous brands of shotguns.

Stephen also had a strong connection with the outdoors and hunted throughout North America and Africa. He had many adventures through these travels.

His competitive spirit found other outlets in recreational activities. Stephen enjoyed the camaraderie of shooting pool, bowling, and playing fastpitch softball, where he performed as an accomplished pitcher for many years. These pastimes were more than hobbies; they were extensions of his engaging and sociable nature. Stephen was avid sports fan and enjoyed both the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball and Kansas City Chiefs Football.

The farm was his sanctuary, a place where he could connect with the land and indulge in the peace it offered. He spent many hours working around the farm on his equipment.

Above all, Stephen's love for his grandchildren was boundless. They were the light of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them. His legacy of love, hard work, and determination will continue to flourish in them.

Pallbearers will be Zachary Brink, Cody Brown, Mike Brink, Mitch Brink, Jeff Gunn, Chris Scrogins, Joe Thomas, and Mike Matheny.

Memorial contributions may be made to Quincy Gun Club (youth league) or Northeast Missouri Humane Society.

Steve was one of the very best guys I called a friend. He was there for you when you were on top and one of the few that were there for you when you were on the bottom. We bought and sold a lot of vehicles together and had a lot of fun. Steve Brink was one of the great ones, he will truly be missed.
