Teresa Calvert Obituary

Teresa Marie Kurtz Calvert, 61, died May 16, 2018, at her home in Wausau, Wis.

Teresa was born Feb. 1, 1957, in Quincy, to parents George Carl and Esther "Betty" Kurtz.

Teresa graduated from Harmony High School in Bonaparte, Iowa, in 1975. She received her associate in applied science degree from Indian Hills Community College in 1982. She was a certified coding specialist and spent her career working in hospital settings both as a director of medical records and later as a consultant who travelled the country helping hospitals from New York City to San Diego.

Teresa had a sparkling laugh and a smile for everyone. She loved to make other people feel good. She loved to listen to music, from old-country standards that reminded her of her father to classic rock and newer music that got her moving. She loved to dance in her chair, and the car, and on the floor with her family, friends and kids. She enjoyed reading horror and suspense novels, firing and painting ceramics, camping and canoeing, and thrift shopping.

Teresa spent the last few years of her life with her daughter, son-in-law and her sister, Linda, in Wausau. Although definitely not a fan of the snow and the cold, she loved to spend quality time with her family and grand-dogs, Maddy and Lincoln, and play online Poker (the kind with fake money) with her brother Tom. She died peacefully from end-stage COPD at home in her bed, with her family by her side -- just the way she wanted it.

Teresa is survived by her daughter, Heather Meggers-Wright (Sean Wright) of Wausau; son, Joshua Meggers of Columbia, Mo.; granddaughter, Jazmyn Meggers of Kansas City, Mo.; great-grandson, Jace Meggers of Kansas City Mo.; brother, Thomas Kurtz (Deborah) of Lawrence, Kan.; and sisters, Linda Burgess of Quincy, Alice Edwards (Calvin) of Pleasantville and Sherry Meek (Michael) of Bonaparte, Iowa. She is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews and their families.

Teresa was preceded in death by her parents, George Carl Kurtz and Esther Elizabeth Buskirk Kurtz.

SERVICES: 10 a.m. memorial services Saturday, Sept. 29, at the Lorenzo Bull House (Women's City Club) at 1550 Maine St., Quincy, with the Rev. Steve Disseler conducting. Gathering time for family and friends will begin at 9 a.m.
