Mr. Thomas Marion "Bud" Fishback 85 of Canton, Missouri passed away Sunday, August 27, 2023, at his home in Canton.
Bud was born December 4, 1937, in Derrahs, Missouri to Earl and Mildred Risk Fishback. Bud met Elaine Hollowell at Providence Baptist Church in Williamstown, Missouri and they later married there on August 28, 1960. Bud was an ordained deacon at Providence, where he served faithfully until moving to St. Louis. He also served in the National Guard for several years.
Bud grew up in the Derrahs, Missouri area and worked for Fishback Construction for many years operating a bulldozer. He was very well versed in building terraces, ponds, dams and clearing brush mostly for local farmers. Later in life, he took a job with the City of St. Louis operating a backhoe for the Water Department. He and Elaine packed up and moved from rural Williamstown to the City of St. Louis where they enjoyed several years of living and all the city had to offer. Upon retirement, they moved to Canton, Missouri where they currently reside.
Bud and Elaine liked to travel; they have been to all 50 states. Bud would wear his STL Cardinals hat wherever they went, mostly to invite a conversation with other travelers. Bud never knew a stranger, had a quick wit and a great sense of humor. He was very proud of all his grandsons and loved spending time with them. Also, in recent years he was very blessed with his two great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine Fishback of Canton, Mo.; his children, Tom (Kim) Fishback of Jefferson City, Mo. and Sherry (Jeff) Shuman of Canton, Mo.; four grandchildren, Craig (Ashley) Fishback of Jefferson City, Mo., Zach Shuman of Fulton, Mo., Tyler (Miranda) Fishback of New Bloomfield, Mo. and Drew (Kirstin Arnold) Shuman of Fulton, Mo.; two great-grandchildren, Cash and Hazel Fishback; brother, Earl Wayne (Ester Ann) Fishback of Springfield, Il.; sister, Cherilyn (Jerry) Brookhart of Burlington, Ia.; sisters in law, Wyneta Fishback of Kahoka, Mo. and Karen (Glenn) Cambre of Baton Rouge, La.; brothers in law, Russell (Eiko) Hollowell of St. Joseph, Mo. and Richard (Pat) Hollowell of Baton Rouge, La.; and many nieces and nephews and his aunt Rose Fishback of Kirksville, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kenneth Fishback.

Bud was my friend. I have many fond memories of him. May God be with all who grieve. Bud certainly made this earth a better place by his being here. Heaven is now a better place with Bud being there.
