Timothy SCHMITT Obituary

Timothy "Tim" G. Schmitt, 55, of 225 Elm St., died at 3:25 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 29, 2009) in the emergency room in Blessing Hospital. He was born Aug. 7, 1954, in Quincy, a son of George J. and Kathleen Sander Schmitt. He was a graduate of Quincy High School. He worked in construction with his brother Steve. Timothy was a member of the Church of St. Peter. He was a huge Cardinal baseball fan. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his friends at the VFW.. Tim's family was very important to him, and he especially loved his new great-niece, Emmy Grace Kistner. Survivors include his mother, Kathleen Schmitt of Quincy; one son, Christopher Schmitt of Quincy; two brothers, Steve Schmitt of Quincy and Michael Schmitt and his wife, Terri, of Hinsdale; one sister, Julie Markert and her husband, Michael, of Camp Point; six nieces and nephews, Kristi Littleton and her husband, Todd, Joshua Schmitt and his fiancee, Lacey Carter, Bri Emery, Lacey Schmitt, Ryan Kistner and his wife, Jeri, and Patrick Kistner and his fiancee, Maggie Schodroski; a great-niece; and aunts, uncles and cousins . Timothy was preceded in death by his father. SERVICES: 9:30 a.m. Monday in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. in the Church of St. Peter conducted by the Rev. Roy Bauer. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. VISITATION: 3 to 6 p.m. today in the funeral home with a prayer service at 4 p.m. conducted by the Rev. John Burnette. MEMORIALS: Church of St. Peter or the VFW.
