Wayne Thomas Obituary

PLYMOUTH, Ill. -- Wayne A. Thomas, 89, of Plymouth, went to be with his heavenly father at 9:35 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 30, 2012) in the Elms in Macomb.

Wayne was born in Adrian, on Oct. 4, 1922, a son of Hubert and Goldie Seigfreid Thomas. Wayne married Viola Tilton on April 8, 1944, in Fort Madison, Iowa. She survives.

Wayne attended school in Hancock County followed by a lifetime of farming and raising livestock. He spent many winters logging from the timbers with his brothers, son-in-law and nephew. He also was a very good mechanic.

Wayne was an active, lifetime member of the Community of Christ Church in Carthage.

He enjoyed working and keeping busy, but he also enjoyed riding horses, listening to the radio, going to any country western and blue grass program available, playing cards and bingo, and putting puzzles together. He enjoyed relaxing and visiting with family and friends with a good cup of coffee. He was a "professional" homemade ice cream maker and enjoyed eating it most of all. He got the biggest kick out of comedian, Justin Wilson. But most of all, Wayne's greatest pleasure was his family and his many friends.

Wayne will be missed by his wife; and five children, Carol (Edward) Brooks of Blandinsville, Janice (Gene Henry) Diseron of Plymouth, Jeanne (Mike) Biswell of Colchester, Cindy (Randy) Smith of Plymouth, and Kendall Thomas (Vincent Marinelli) of Mountain View, Calif.

Wayne enjoyed his eight grandchildren along with 18 great grandchildren.

Wayne is the second of eight children. He is survived by one sister, Joan Johnson (Vince) of Burnside; and three brothers, Keith Thomas of Plymouth, Byard (Verna) Thomas of Davenport, Iowa, Loren Thomas of Burnside.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Thelma; and two brothers, Lloyd and Vernon.

SERVICES: 11 a.m. Tuesday in PCCC, former Methodist Church, with Elder Evelyn Dustin conducting. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery in Plymouth.

VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Monday in PCCC, Plymouth.

MEMORIALS: Community of Christ Church or the Elms Nursing Home.

ARRANGEMENTS: Hamilton Funeral Plymouth.
