Jessie Earl Johnston, 82, of Bald Knob passed from this life on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2025, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family. He was born Dec. 2, 1942, in Bald Knob, Ark., to Jessie Eunice and Mary Ann (Mitchell) Johnston. He was a retired welder from the Local Union 798.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and his dog, Loope. He loved gardening and with each year, his garden increased in size. Jessie loved his family deeply, and enjoyed spending time with all of them. He was also known for picking on and teasing both kids and adults alike. He could always make you laugh. Jessie had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who lovingly called him Gran Gran.
Jessie is survived by his wife of 64 years, Geneva Mason Johnston; his children, Sharon Remagen, Randy Johnston and his wife LaDonna, and Ann Russell and her husband Aaron; grandchildren, Ryan Russell, Shelby Miller and her husband Mike, and Seth Johnston and his wife Alyssa; great-grandchildren, Rylen Johnston and Maggie Miller; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and brothers and sisters-in-law that loved him dearly. He is preceded in death by his mother and father; three sisters, Kay Mason, Martha Long Johnson and Dorothy Striepens; and son-in-law, Chuck Remagen.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Bald Knob. Visitation will precede the service, beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in the Velvet Ridge Cemetery.
