Eric Schenck Obituary

Eric Schenck, 62

Eric Matthew Schenck, 62, of Whitefish passed away July 28, 2024, following a decade-long struggle with a rare neurological disorder.

Eric was born in Whitefish on October 19, 1961, the 'baby' of Carl "Ed" and Marguerite (MacDonald) Schenck's five children. Eric grew up in Whitefish, spending his winters on Big Mountain and his summers in Whitefish Lake. Eric graduated from Whitefish High School and was proud of being a member of the 1979 WHS Bulldog State Champion football team.

He attended the University of Montana and spent his college summers traveling the west on ski lift construction crews. While at UM he made many lifelong friends, drank a few beers and earned a degree in Pharmacy. He had a thirty-year Pharmacy career, most of it as a pharmacist at Logan Health Kalispell.

Eric married Sheril Crawford in September 2005; and together they enjoyed entertaining friends and family at their cozy Haskill Basin home, traveling near and far, and sharing their lives with many four-legged friends.

Throughout his life Eric worked hard and played hard. He was an avid skier and loved hiking in Glacier Park and cheering on the Griz. He was a loving and devoted husband, an attentive son, a loyal friend and the best 'baby brother' and 'fun uncle' any family could wish for. We will all miss his smirky grin, that sparkle in his eye, his sarcastic punny sense of humor and most of all his kindness.

Eric was preceded in death by his parents and his mother-in-law Caril Crawford. He is survived by his wife Sheril, his siblings Mary Anne Miles in Whitefish, Suzanne Schenck in San Francisco, Karl (Sue) Schenck in Whitefish, Ron (Melissa) Schenck in Valparaiso IN; father-in-law Edwin Crawford of Nampa ID, brother-in law Ed (Laura) Crawford of Nampa ID, sisters-in-law Linda Crawford in Boise and Connie (John) Neil in Boulder Creek CA. Uncle Eric will be missed by Jeremy (Katy) Miles, Ericka Schenck, Chelsea (Dave) Lefcourt, Kate (Scott) Moseley, Madeline (Scotty) Withers, Matthew and Bob Schenck, Robert Crawford and Sean, Heather and Sheila Neil. Great-uncle Eric will be missed by Erin Moseley, Henry Smith, Simma Lefcourt, Edwin Schenck, Claire and Colin Miles. He also leaves behind his aunt Arlene Priest in Billings, his uncle Mike (Patrice) MacDonald in Fort Benton, too many cousins to count and a lifetime of close friends.

Eric has been cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends later. Donations can be made in Eric's memory to DREAM Adaptive Recreation, PO Box 4084, Whitefish MT 59937.

The family would like to extend our thanks to staff at the Springs in Whitefish and the Touchmark in Meridian ID for their loving care of Eric over the past few years.

Genuinely a good guy.. sad to hear of your passing. Skied with you a few times on Big Mountain - you, me and Atchinson back in the day. RIP Eric.
