Robert Braig Obituary

Robert A Braig, 85

We are saddened to share that Bob Braig passed away peacefully on December 29, 2025. He was surrounded by his family and on the family farm homesteaded by his parents in 1937. His parents were first generation, proud Americans and raised Bob and his older brother Jake to appreciate family, country, generosity, kindness and hard work.

Bob was born at the "old" hospital in Kalispell in1940. He graduated from Whitefish High School and the University of Montana. He was proud of cramming 4 years of college into 7 years. It took him longer because he worked to pay for college. A common theme for Bob was work. He enjoyed it. Bob joined D.A. Davidson as a clerk the Monday following graduation. In 1965, he married Beverly Simpson and moved to Missoula to become a financial advisor. In 1974, Ian Davidson asked Bob to become branch manager of the newly established Kalispell office. Bob and Bev packed the family up and moved home. Having established the Missoula and Kalispell offices, Bob took on additional roles, including director of all Wealth Management branches.

Bob served on the D.A. Davidson board of directors and partnered with his son Rob in 1990 until his retirement in 2004. Rob is proud to continue his father's legacy of helping clients in the Whitefish DAD office. All four of their children graduated from Flathead High School and the University of Montana.

Bob and Beverly raised 4 children in the Flathead valley while working and enjoying trips and adventures in Montana and around the world. Bob was an avid rafting fan despite not knowing how to swim. The life jacket went on while he was still in the truck. His favorite hobby was work. He was the first one in the office and the last to leave, on his family farm doing "farm" things, in the woods or in his wood shop. He was an extremely talented craftsman. Designing and building everything from furniture, to birthday cakes for the kids.

Bob's hard work enabled him to travel the world. Cruises and winters in Palm Desert with his wife, hunting trips with his son and adventures with his daughters. He is survived by his loving wife Beverly, children, Rob Braig (Samantha), Courtenay Braig (Dennis), Kiersten Alton (Jack), and Brandee Tyree. He loved and enjoyed spending time with his 9 grandchildren. Bob will be missed and remembered by his many friends and family. The family would like to thank all of the wonderful friends and caregivers who enriched his life and made his passing as peaceful as possible. He is with his mother, father and brother on the farm in heaven.

Darlington Funeral Home is assisting the family with proceedings. The funeral will be January 16th at 1pm. St. Peter's Parish, Columbia Falls. Gravesite services immediately following and a gathering will be held at dad's favorite diner, The Blue Moon. In leu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Whitefish Community Foundation FBO Braig Family Foundation (P.O.
