Andy J. Widener, 74, of Fulton, died on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at Eagle Point Health Care Center of Clinton, IA after a 2 year battle with cancer.
He was born on April 9, 1949 in Straight Creek, KY, the son of Andy and Magdalene (Haley) Widener. He married Annette Rosenow on June 17, 1972 in Morrison. Andy was a veteran of the U.S. Army and both the Iowa and Illinois Army National Guard. Andy was a truck driver for E.H. Stralow Trucking of Morrison and later managed the Equal service station in Morrison for Gibson Oil. Andy retired as a Police Officer for the City of Morrison after serving his community for 28 years. Andy was also an avid golfer, fisherman, and woodworker. He enjoyed going to estate sales and auctions. Andy spent most of his retired years as a snowbird in Florida with his loving wife by his side.
He is survived by his wife, Annette Widener of Fulton; two daughters, Jennifer (Andrew) Trello of Springfield, IL, Samantha Widener-Ende of Morrison; one sister, Judy Dietz of Decatur, IL; one brother, Mark (Sherry) Widener of Fulton; one aunt, Sue Nunn of KY; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Robert Dietz Sr.; one nephew, Robert Dietz Jr.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at 2PM at Lyndon Cemetery of Lyndon, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to the Salvation Army or charity of your choice.
