Carol J. Butzer, 89, of Cordova, IL, died Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at her home. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Friday, October 25, 2024 at Gibson – Bode Funeral Home, Port Byron. Graveside Services will be at 1:30 pm on Saturday, October 26th at the Cordova Cemetery, Cordova, IL. Memorials may be made to Ann's Helping Hands, Inc, Port Byron.
Carol Jean was born October 22, 1934 in Moline, IL, the daughter of Hernandez and Ruth (Fenno) DeWilfond. She married James "Jim" R. Butzer on October 31, 1959. Together, with the help of their children, Carol and Jim owned and operated an amusement company that they took around the state of California. Upon retiring they moved back to their roots in Cordova.
Carol loved watching and feeding the birds, especially her finches. She was an excellent cook, avid reader and enjoyed working on crossword puzzles. She was a great listener, always had a positive attitude and was the glue of the entire family. As a social person, she loved talking to her family and many nieces and nephews regularly on the phone.
Carol is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Jeff) Butler, Cordova, IL; granddaughters, Christina (Jon) Martin, Firestone, CO, Diana Butler, Cordova; step-son, Gail (Tami) Dillin, Erie, IL; sister, Kathy Brown, Rock Island, IL; sisters-in-law, Trudy and Carol DeWilfond; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim; son, Jamie Butzer; and siblings, Bonnie Pyse, Dick DeWilfond and Nick DeWilfond. Share a memory or condolence at www.gibsonbodefh.com.
