Anthony Monges Obituary

May 10, 1938 - Sept. 25, 2022 Anthony (Tony) Monges, is survived by his wife of 63 years, Peggy Jo Monges, his three (3) children Michael Monges, Sandra Burk, and John Monges, he loved his 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Tony died peacefully on Sunday, September 25, 2022. A resident of La Puente California since his birth in 1938 to Andrew and Elva Monges. He lived on the same property in La Puente his entire life and married Peggy Jo in May 1959. They built a home on his family property and in 1960 they welcomed their first child Michael. Tony taught Karate and Self-Defense in his home garage for many years and was always ready to teach self-defense moves to anyone who wanted to learn. He coached Little League with La Puente Little League, La Puente Pony, and Azusa Leagues for several years. He loved the kids and coaching and remained friends with many of those kids as they grew into adulthood. Being a permanent resident on his property, meant a lot of frequent visitors who stopped by at all hours and were always welcomed with a joke and a smile. Tony worked for the Hacienda Unified School District for 26 years in the Maintenance Department and retired in 2000. After spending many years retired, he found work at the Pomona Fairplex as a Security Guard, and he loved it! He worked the night shift and loved spending time with the animals, especially the racehorses. He spoke fondly of the friends and acquaintances he met there up until the time of his death. Tony loved his life, his family, his neighbors, his pets, his truck, and long drives. He wouldn't miss a grand kid's sporting event and showed up for every baseball, soccer, water-polo, and swim meet. We love him and will miss him every day. Services will be held at Rose Hills Mortuary in Whittier, CA on: Thursday, October 13, 2022. https://www.rosehills.com/obituaries/whittier-ca/anthony-monges-10944423#grave-location

To Tony's Family:

Sending my deepest sympathies to all of you. I remember Tony from my younger days. Tony was good friends with my Uncle & Aunt, Gil & Thelma Foss, (and cousin, Bob Randles, deceased) My brother, Ben Foss sent me an email when he saw Tony's obituary. We both remember Tony!

I remember you Peggy, what a wonderful life you & Tony had, 63 yrs!!! That is wonderful, reading Tony's obituary made me smile. What a wonderful fulfilling life he had, your family must be proud! To live in the same area all of his life is quite a feat and the many people he touched along the way. He will be missed!

I live in Washington State now, we moved her in 1982. I just visited Rose Hills in June, my beloved parents, Ben & Wanda Foss were laid to rest there. As is my Uncle Henry & Mary Foss also unturned just across from my parents. And of course, our beloved Mickey, (Bob Randles first wife) I am in touch with Steve, we found each other through a mutual friend. He is doing well, and has a beautiful wife, children, & grandchildren.

God Bless all of you, and may you be comforted as you mourn & be lifted up by God, family, friends, and people that love & care! Peace be with you all.
