Rosemary Colomey Obituary

Rosemary D. Colomey, 73, of Mashpee, died July 18, 2012 at home with her family by her side. She was the wife of Edward F. Colomey to whom she was married to for 51 years. Mrs. Colomey was a loving caring person who recognized the value of others. She enjoyed children so much that in later life she ran a home child care business and would only care for a small number of children, so that she could give them the attention she felt they should have. Rosemary loved her family and her friends and always sought them out to keep in touch. She will be sorely missed by the members of her large extended family and certainly her dearest friends. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Edward W. Colomey of Quincy, Thomas N. Colomey and his wife Kimberly of Cumberland, RI, and Christopher F. Colomey and his wife Susannah of Marshfield; her adoring grandchildren, Alexandra, Nicholas, Robbie and Luke Colomey; her sisters, Barbara Skinder and her husband Ralph of Andover, Elaine Fiandaca and her husband Michael of East Kingston, NH, and Faith Mercurio and her husband Dennis of Watertown; her sisters-in-law, Ethel Doyle of Tewksbury, Maryellen Carter of Rotterdam, NY, and Mary Colomey of Dedham; her brother-in-law, Edward Coughlin of Arlington; and her dear friend, Robert Delano of Arlington. Also surviving are many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. She is predeceased by her sister, Diane Coughlin; her brothers Thomas, Paul and Robert Doyle; her brothers-in-law William Colomey and James Carter; and her dear friend Valerie Delano. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Christ the King Church, 3 Jobs Fishing Rd., Mashpee. Interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be made to American Heart Assoc, Heart Gifts Processing Center, PO Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220-3049 or www.americanheart.org. Dear Eddie, Ted, Tommy, Christopher, Kim, Susannah & all the kids, Words can't describe how sad I am to hear of the loss of our beloved Rosemary. She was truly an amazing woman with such a positive outlook on life. I feel proud to have called her one of my closest friends. Rosemary welcomed me with open arms to the neighborhood and took me under her wing. She was like a mother to me and helped me to become the mother I am. I know that God has now taken her under his wing and she is spreading her love in a better place. My love and prayers to you all during this difficult time.

Dear Ed, Ted,Tom, Chris and family,
We are so deeply saddened to hear of Rosemary's death. She helped raise Cal and Neila and cousin Bridget and was like a beloved family member (as were you all). We talk about those times and lovely Rosemary often and with so much affection and love. She let us go to work each day knowing our children were safe, loved and snuggled. She comforted us all during rough times at work and in life. What a beautiful person. We send our sympathies, prayers and condolences to you all on this great loss. With love, Linda, Michael, Cal and Neila
