Sadie DelVecchio Obituary

Sadie Del (Horton) DelVecchio, of Hanson, formerly of Braintree, passed away on May 18, 2014 at the age of 91. Sadie was proudly born and raised in South Carolina. She was a crossing guard in Braintree for 28 years. She was a member of many groups after moving to Hanson including the Red Hat Society, the Pembroke American Legion Auxiliary, the Abington Grange and the St. Joseph the Worker Parish Sodality. Sadie enjoyed spending time with her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Nicholas DelVecchio. She was also the loving mother of Martha A. DelVecchio of Hanson, Linda Lane-Martin and her husband Neill of Hanson and Robert L. DelVecchio of Kingston. She was the devoted daughter of the late Robert and Ella Horton. She was the fourth child of eleven children. Survived by siblings Jamie Horton, Martha Bradley and Bemice Sue Holley all of S.C., also the late Ernestine Jowers and Richard, Hazel, Nola, Emmett, Chester and Bobby Horton. She was the loving grandmother of 7 grandchildren Ginger, Gina, Heather, Brien, Derek, Nicole and Ryan and 12 great-grandchildren. Also survived by her brother-in-law Lenny DelVecchio and his wife Jinetta of Braintree as well as many nieces and nephews. Reposed at the Cartwright Venuti Funeral Home, 845 Washington St., Braintree until 10:15 a.m. on Friday, May 23, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church in Braintree. Visiting hours was on Thursday, May 22, from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial in Braintree Cemetery.
