George Morton Obituary

George M. Morton (Capt' Cass) of Orleans, MA died after a short illness at the age of 89 on December 21, 2012. He was born the son of Laura and George Morton of Worcester, MA. Capt' Cass was a lobster fisherman most of his life but was widely known as the, "Captain ," of Capt' Cass Rock Harbor Seafood Restaurant . For many years Capt' Cass caught and cooked the lobsters that were served up fresh every night in the restaurant. He loved going out on the ocean on his boat the Ira M. and lobster fishing off of Nauset. Mill Pond in Orleans was the home of his many lobster boats. As long as Cass was outside and in the sun he was happy. He rode his bike and walked around the harbor feeding the seagulls until he was 88 years old. George was a WWII veteran serving on a Navy destroyer as a member of the Coast Guard. He was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth Morton and his son John Morton. He is survived by his children Charles Morton and his wife Patricia of Palm Coast, FL, Ruth Kampe and her husband Bruce of West Hartford, CT, James Morton and his wife Nancy of Brewster, MA, and Sue Morton of Orleans, MA. He is also survived by his grandchildren Cristopher Morton and his wife Michelle, Christie Morton, Amanda Nowak and her husband Jamie, Brianna Morton, Matthew Kampe, and Sarah Kampe and his great grandchildren Ashley Morton, Veronica Linhares, JC Linhares, Ella Nowak, and Brynn Nowak. There will be a private memorial at a later date.
