Helen Fanelli Regis Cooley

Helen Fanelli Regis Cooley, 94, of Marietta, GA & Wellfleet, formerly of New Rochelle, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving daughters on June 30, 2010 in Georgia. She was the wife of the late Chester "Chet" Regis, Edward R. Fanelli, & George Cooley. Born in New Rochelle, the daughter of the late George Fanelli & Maryellen "Nellie" (Kelly) Fanelli, Helen was raised there & graduated from New Rochelle High School. She was a resident of New Rochelle for most of her life prior to retiring to Delray Beach, FL. She will be remembered for her sharp wit, generous spirit, unfailing optimism, outspoken manner, and love for her family and friends. While in high school, she sang in an all-girl jazz band. Along with her husband, Chet, she was an avid bowler on the Wykagyl Country Club couples team in New Rochelle. Helen loved shopping for bargains, especially spike heeled shoes, eating oysters on the half shell, and holding court at the Duck Creeke Tavern in Wellfleet where she enjoyed an occasional Gin Alexander & spent numerous summers on the shores of Mayo Beach. Fiercely independent, she spent her last five years at the Parc at Piedmont, a residence for active seniors in Marietta, Georgia. Helen is survived by 3 daughters, Maryellen "Melon" Regis-Civetta of Wellesley Hills & Wellfleet, Victoria R. Kirschner & her husband Stephan of Marietta, GA, & Denise "Necee" Regis of Boston & South Beach; & known as Nana to 7 grandchildren & Great to 16 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Gloria Kenny, & numerous nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by siblings George Fanelli, Robert G. Fanelli & Thomas F.
