Brian Funchion Obituary

Brian R. Funchion, 72, of Hudson NH, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, May 20, 2021. He valiantly fought Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis for 5 years. Brian, son of the late Edward N. and Gilberta J. (Madore) Funchion, was born on April 26, 1949, in Peabody, MA. He attended Peabody schools and went on to serve in the U.S. Army from 1967-1973. Brian brought his expertise in EFT operations to Baybank Inc, as well as Bank of America and Diebold Financial Services. In later years he was Director of Professional Training at Catapult Industries and Kaplan Financial. Brian is remembered for his warmth, humor, tenderness, and engaging conversation starters. He was known to welcome all to legendary backyard barbecues and holiday gatherings hosted with his beloved wife Lee. He was endlessly proud of his family; he beamed whenever he spoke of them. Brian is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years, Lee (Guarneri), his cherished children, Jeffrey Funchion, Rebecca and her husband Jared Brown, Taylor-Marie Funchion, and Emmet Funchion; his grandchildren, Micah, Lucas, and Molly Brown; his brothers, John G. (Diana) PA, sisters, Maryjo (Stephen Quigley) MA, Susan (Jean-Claude Collinet) AZ, Dorothy Aham, MA, Cynthia Funchion, MA. Brian was the coolest uncle to many nieces and nephews who loved and respected 'UB' tremendously. He is also survived by his mother in law, Mary Guarneri, who loved him like a 'son.' He is predeceased by two brothers, Edward Nicholas and William David and brother in law, Peter Aham, and his first wife Joannie Brennan. We are so grateful that God graced our world with the gift of you, Brian. A walk-through viewing will be held on Thursday, May 27th from 4-6 PM in the Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Ferry St., Hudson NH. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 28th at 11am in the Gate City Church, 43 Main St., in Nashua, NH. All may please meet at church. Burial will take place in Edgewood Cemetery in Nashua. To the Funchion family, so sorry to hear of the loss of Brian we were friends back in the 80’s. I went to school with his brothers and sister in laws. Rest with the angels Brian.
