Fred Turner Obituary

Fred Prescott Turner, Jr., 69, of North Eastham died March 2, 2015 peacefully at home after a long battle with diabetes. Born May 12, 1945 the son of Esther Knowles and Fred Turner of Eastham. Fred was proud to be an 11th generation Cape Codder. He graduated from Nauset Regional High class of 1963 where he was a three sport athlete in soccer, basketball and baseball. Fred earned his Bachelors of Education degree in 1967 from Fitchburg State College where he was a Division 3 All American Soccer player. Soon after he was drafted and served his country in the Viet Nam war with the 1st Cavalry Airmobile. As a Sargent he was awarded a Combat Infantry Badge, A Bronze Star and an Army Commendation Medal. He was a Social Studies and Driver Education teacher at Provincetown High School 1969 | 1990. He also loved coaching and refereeing sports, taking his basketball team to Europe thru the High School Sports Ambassadors Program. When not teaching he also worked side by side with his wife Lu at St.Aubins Nursery and St.Aubins Bayside Cottages. Many will remember Fred and his colorful assortment of dogs riding the beaches. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Lucille St.Aubin, of North Eastham, In addition to his wife he is survived by his sons Kelly Turner, of Eastham, MA and Lieut. Col. Ryan Frazier, of Beavercreek, OH, and daughter Raegan Frazier Vaughan, of Millersville, MD, grandsons Cameron Turner, Barrett Vaughan, Grant Vaughan and Dante Frazier and Granddaughters Isabella Frazier and Quinn Vaughan. Also survived by brother Ted Tibbals of Scarborough ME, and sisters Beatrice Schofield of Milford, MA, Marie Taves of Orleans, MA, Lucy Ott of Westwood, NJ, and Frances Francis of Eastham, MA. Fred was predeceased by brothers Warren Turner and Greg Turner and Sisters Mary Reus, Mathel Carter and Esther Reed. Family and friends are invited to his Memorial Service and a celebration of Freds life on May 30th in Eastham.
