William Mee Obituary

William Walter Mee Formerly of Orleans and Brewster Denver, CO died on August 27. He was 88 years old. Mr. Mee was predeceased by his beloved wife Virginia M. Mee on November 18, 2008. They were married for 58 years. They lived on the Cape in summers and in Florida in the winters from 1980 through 2005. They lived in Orleans until 1991 when they moved to Brewster. They made Florida their full-time residence in 2005. A World War II veteran, Mr. Mee was a captain in the United States Army Air Force, where he flew a B-17 Bomber in the 385th Bomb Group and was decorated with the Distinguished Flying Cross. A graduate of Harvard University and Harvard Business School, he went on to serve as an executive at POPAI (Point of Purchase Advertising Institute), ANA (Association of National Advertisers), Schneider Black and Schlegel, and Streeter Industries. He was the founder and president of the Trade Show Bureau. Mr. Mee enjoyed reading history, gardening and golfing, as well as traveling and spending time with family and friends. He was an incredibly positive person and had a wonderful sense of humor. He is survived by his five children: William W. Mee Jr.; Bruce C. Mee and wife Marjolein M. Mee; Janis M. Borie and husband David D. Borie; Heather S. Mee and husband Glenn W. Muscosky; and Douglas J. Mee and wife Holly Mee. He is also survived by his twelve grandchildren: Oliver W. A. Mee, Jennifer F. Mee, Alexander S. Mee, Juliana K. M. Mee, Nicholas A. J. Mee, Josephine I. V. Mee, D. Welles Borie, Lewis T. Preston, William B. Preston, Eric W. Muscosky, Lila Y. C. Muscosky and Christopher R. Mee. A memorial service will be held on Cape Cod this summer. His ashes will be interred in the Orleans Cemetery.
