Alice Angell Obituary

Alice (Speliotes) Angell, 88, of Central Street, Ipswich, wife of the late James P. Angell, died Sunday, September 7, 2014 in the Ledgewood Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center, Beverly. Born in Ipswich October 25, 1925 daughter of the late Socrates B. and Evanthia (Kotsinonou) Speliotes, she was raised in Ipswich and was a 1943 graduate of Ipswich public schools. Married in 1955, the Angells made their home and raised their family in their Fourth Street, Ipswich home. She has resided in the Oak Hill Apartments since 1995. Mrs. Angell was employed as a bookkeeper for thirty-five years with Tsoutsouras & Company in Ipswich from which she retired in 1997. Alice will be remembered for her wonderful smile and her love of and enthusiasm for Greek dancing. She was a lifelong member of the Greek Orthodox Church in Ipswich, a member of the Ipswich Womens Club, and a member of the V.F.W. Post #1093 Womens Auxiliary. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Amy Angell of Ipswich, three grandsons Zachary, Dmitrios and David Angell all of Ipswich; two granddaughters, Katherine and Alexandra Angell both of Ipswich; a sister Elaine Morland of Las Cruces, NM, and many nephews and nieces. She was the mother of the late James P. Angell, Jr. of Ipswich and the late Tina Marie Angell of Dorchester and sister of the late William and Charles Speliotes, both of Ipswich, the late Peter Speliotes of Denver, CO, the late Faye Christopher of Rowley, the late Georgia Arnold of Garland, TX, and the late Sophie Dobbins of Jonesport, ME. Her funeral will be held 9 am Thursday, September 11 from the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High St., Ipswich followed by a service at 10 am in the Greek Orthodox Church, in Ipswich. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed. Visiting hours are Wednesday 5 to 8 pm. Interment will be in the New Highland Cemetery, Ipswich. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Greek Orthodox Church, 8 Lafayette Rd., Ipswich, MA 01938. For directions or to leave a condolence please visit www.whittier-porter.com
