Frederick P. Paulitz

1928 - 2017

Frederick P. Paulitz, 88, of North Ridge Road, Ipswich, died Tuesday, January 10, 2017 following a brief illness while traveling in one of his favorite places: Antigua, Guatemala. He is undoubtedly in Heaven drinking a beer and teaching his sisters how to fold origami elephants. He was born in Farrell, Pennsylvania September 17, 1928 to the late John and Theresa (Weiss) Paulitz. He is preceded in death by his siblings: Theresa, Mary, Floyd, John, Ann, Catherine, Louise, and Elizabeth; and survived by his brother Leonard of Montclair, California. He was a World War II veteran and served proudly in the Infantry and was awarded the WWII Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal Japan. Fred met and married Ruth Minner and moved to Ipswich in 1961 to take a job with Stone and Webster Engineering. Fred and Ruth were married for 52 years before her passing in 2013. He worked for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission before retiring more than 15 years ago, after which he enrolled in a Spanish language class at the community college that sparked his love of Guatemala where he has traveled for months at a time every year since. He was cared for with love and kindness by his friends Maria Angela Hernandez and Felisa Del Carmen Rosales and the family is forever grateful. He is survived by four children: Frederick F. Paulitz and his wife Shannon Hurley of Henniker, NH; Theresa A. Paulitz Dailey and her partner Edward Aazooes of St. Thomas, USVI; Mary-Jean Paulitz and her wife Shelley Mathewson of Bend, Oregon, and William G. Paulitz and his wife Patricia of Ipswich; and two grandsons Rowan W. and Reid G. Paulitz both of Ipswich.
